On Sunday 08 August, there was a "Blueberry Fesitval" at the skansen (outdoor museum) in Zubrzyca. Mel 'n' Omi had been there earlier, but this time promised to give them a taste of the local culture: traditional music, traditional dress, traditional rain (it rained a bit — surprise ,surprise).

After a classic Polish Sunday dinner of baked chicken and potatoes, we went to a local blueberry festival. It was very unique.

It was a bit like going to Williamsburg, Virginia when all the early American cottage industries flourished. We saw how they made yarn to make rugs. How they harvested the oat of wheat berries from stalks of grains. Also, watched a pottery maker do his many crafts.

Next we went to the main stage and watched a traditional string band — several string instruments playing together — and heard folk songs sung by them. They their fireman's band played several band songs — several of which I recognized the tune. After them came another traditional band playing while about six couples danced traditional dances in colorful costumes from the past.

We had a bowl of ice-cream served in edible bowls. The ice-cream was chocolate with traces of vanilla and blue berries. We ate it with what looked like short Popsicle sticks — a really delicious experience.
