Mel 'n' Omi's Great, Central European Adventure
Jabłonka :: Wednesday Market Wednesday 28 July   Back

Every Wednesday from very early morning (6 AM) til early afternoon (12 PM) the local folks have what they call a "fair". To us in the 'States' we would call is a very large 'flea market.' The weather was varing from pouring down rain to a light drissle. The variety was astounding — you could buy anything from sheep skins, new clothes, shoes to hardware. Janina bought 'Omi and I house a pair of slippers each. (The custom in Poland is to take your shoes off at the door and slip on slippers. You should see me trying to walk with open healed slippers.) Even more astounding are the sheer number of vendors and the extent that they 'setup shop' even in the rain.

Mel 'n' Omi are looking at some table scarfs, etc. 'Omi didn't want to buy any here because they were factory made and not 'handmade.'

This looks like a small hardware store spead out over the ground. We weren't looking any tools so I did not examine them closely.
